Destination Porto

Porto has been appointed as European Best Destination 2017, with more than 138.000 preferences between the more than 420.000 tourists from 174 Countries that voted in the competition created by EDB*, in collaboration with the European Destinations of Excellence Network. Actually, the polls are open for the 2018 edition. Moreover, strictly speaking, Porto won the competition also in 2012 and in 2014.

Porto is the ancient Portus Cale, from which derives the name Portugal, a Country that, these years, is hoarding prizes at the World Travel Awards**. If we look at the last two editions, here are, for information, the won titles:

  • World’s Leading Tourist Board 2017
  • World’s Leading Tourism Authority Website 2017
  • Europe’s Leading Destination 2017
  • Europe’s Leading Tourist Board 2017
  • Europe’s Leading Beach Destination 2016
  • Europe’s Leading Tourist Board 2016

It’s not enough, because Portugal has won the bronze medal in the Top 10 Countries of the Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2018, right behind Chile (on the first place) and South Korea (on the second place).
